Logo Geometry & Modular Systems
The redesigned primary logo honors the brand's industrial roots through a bold, geometric mark inspired by crossed steel beams and heavy-duty fabric weaves. Constructed on a precise proportional grid system using 'X' units, the master logo guarantees structural consistency across all physical and digital scales.
To accommodate different spatial constraints, the identity system incorporates two secondary variants. The Secondary Logo isolates the crossed-rectangles mark for small-scale applications like mobile app icons, while the Typographic Logo relies solely on the Aachen Bold wordmark for high-authority textual contexts and legal communications.
Color Palette & Material Honesty
The color system connects directly to Carhartt's iconic fabrics and industrial heritage. The primary palette pairs Safety Yellow (#FFB612), derived from heavy machinery and warning signage, with Absolute Black (#2C2A26) to ensure immediate contrast and high-visibility alertness.
The secondary palette emphasizes material authenticity through Carhartt Brown (#8B5E3C), reflecting traditional Duck Canvas, alongside Carhartt Beige (#CBB89D), evoking raw unbleached cotton. Carhartt White is used as a clean backdrop to preserve text legibility without losing tactile warmth.
Photographic Style & Technical Illustration
Photography within the system avoids artificial staging, focusing instead on the real textures of worn canvas, dusty job sites, and real workers in action. Product photography prioritizes uniform, natural light to clearly display functional details like triple-stitched seams, rivets, and heavy-duty zippers against minimal backgrounds.
Complementing the imagery, the illustration and icon systems adopt an industrial signage aesthetic. Built with monoline stroke weights, flat solid fills, and zero decorative gradients, the icons function as clear, technical assembly guides.

Industrial Typography & Grid Systems
The central voice of the brand is expressed through the Aachen slab-serif font family. Its heavy, industrial stroke weight communicates historical strength and durability, making headlines feel audacious, direct, and authoritative.
For printed collateral and advertising layouts, strict vertical and horizontal grid systems maintain visual order. Vertical posters place the primary logo in the top-left corner above full-bleed environmental imagery, reserving the bottom region for bold headline typography, while horizontal layouts place body copy dead-center against cinematic backgrounds.
Spatial Applications & Retail Environment
The visual identity extends into corporate stationery, custom packaging, branded merchandise, and physical retail environments. Business cards separate brand identity from utility by featuring a large centered logo on the reverse side while organizing contact details on the front.
In retail locations and headquarters, the brand manifests through raw brickwork, polished concrete floors, warm timber displays, and large-scale steel logo installations. This architectural staging bridges rugged job-site durability with a modern industrial shopping experience.
