International Contest Poster Series
A trio of conceptual posters developed for prestigious international design competitions, showcasing diverse printing finishes
This project encompasses a series of three distinct posters engineered for real-world entry into international design competitions: the UPF Sant Jordi Poster Award, the Animayo International Poster Contest, and The Student Social Poster Competition. The overarching objective was to demonstrate visual synthesis, message conceptualization, and print production mastery under explicit technical constraints. Rather than adopting a uniform visual approach, each poster tackles a vastly different subject academic heritage, digital animation, and human rights using custom illustration, strong call-to-action claims, and tailored print finishes that elevate each message within its specific competitive arena.

Poster 1: UPF Sant Jordi Poster Award & Tactile Finishes
The first poster reinterpret Catalonia’s traditional Diada de Sant Jordi festival for Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Grounded in institutional prestige, the layout centers on geometric abstractions of the rose and book. Designed for a DIN A3 output on 300g matte coated paper, the print execution relies on a multi-layered finish strategy: bright gold hot foil stamping outlines the rose petals and book, while a selective spot UV varnish coats the "UPF." monogram to create light-reflecting textures over a warm ivory background. Typographically, a solid sans-serif for the university logo pairs with a classic Roman serif for "SANT JORDI 2027," balancing modern academic authority with literary tradition.
Poster 2: Animayo Festival & Conceptual Synthesis
Targeting the digital entertainment and animation industry for the 21st Animayo Summit and International Film Festival, the second poster explores the journey "from an idea to imagination". The central illustration depicts a lightbulb disolving into a swarm of rising stars symbolizing the birth of inspiration evolving into digital fantasy, VFX, and game design. Formatted at $50\times70\text{ cm}$ on 250g matte coated paper, the graphic avoids the chaotic 3D renders typical of animation festivals in favor of high-contrast minimalism. Solid black anchors the lightbulb base, while a vivid cyan accent highlights the transforming stars, set under condensed geometric sans-serif headlines and neogrotesk explanatory subtext.
Poster 3: Social Awareness & Spot-Color Directness
The third poster, titled Bound by Nothing, Free to Be Human, was developed for The Student Social Poster Competition to address universal human rights and social inclusion. Highlighting freedom and collective empathy, the visual metaphor shows a hand releasing human silhouettes that morph into a flock of soaring doves breaking through barbed wire. Rendered at $100\times70\text{ cm}$ for maximum impact, the piece utilizes a strict two-spot-color (2/0) Pantone palette high-density black on a warm ivory base printed on porous, textured 250g offset paper. The bold sans-serif claim "BOUND BY NOTHING" contrasts with an elegant serif tagline "FREE TO BE HUMAN," ensuring stark, unembellished authenticity.

Production Workflow & Prepress Precision
Across all three pieces, technical prepress standards were strictly executed to align with international production requirements. Each layout incorporates a mandatory 3 mm bleed margin along with standard crop marks. Paper choices were specifically aligned with the conceptual goals ranging from dense 300g coated stock for metallic stamping and spot UV, down to tactile 250g porous offset stock for unvarnished spot-color directness. By tailoring color spaces (CMYK enriched blacks versus direct 2/0 Pantone inks) to each piece's technical requirements, the series demonstrates complete control over prepress setup and physical print output.
